Reporting to the De Dwa da dehs nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre (DAHC) Board of Directors (BOD), the CEO provides strategic and professional leadership to the DAHC and works with the Board of Directors (BOD) in the development, communication, and execution of the DAHC\xe2\x80\x99s strategic plan, mission, vision, and values.
As DAHC\xe2\x80\x99s mission is \xe2\x80\x9cTaking Care of Each Other Amongst Ourselves\xe2\x80\x9d and is committed to hiring and supporting an Indigenous candidate in this role. The ideal candidate for this role is an Indigenous person, with experience working in an urban Indigenous setting. We firmly believe that as an organization dedicated to serving the Indigenous community, it is important that the CEO of DAHC embodies and represents the community served by our health centre site.
Working with DAHC staff, clients, community and the BOD, the CEO will lead the development of respect for Indigenous perspectives into DAHC\xe2\x80\x99s values, policies, and practices and to support the delivery on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls-To-Action, Calls for Justice for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples, and the United Nations United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
As a collaborative and innovative leader, you will partner closely with the other organizations in the Indigenous Health Care Provider Organization (IPHCO) and Community Health Centre sector, Indigenous Primary Health Care Council (IPHCC), Indigenous Health Network (IHN), various Ontario Health Teams (OHTs), the Alliance for Healthier Communities and other key Indigenous community, and provincial partners in a collective effort to improve health outcomes for Indigenous Peoples.
The CEO is grounded in Indigenous ways of being, knowing and leading, along with Western, ways of knowing \xe2\x80\x93 utilizing these dual concepts \xe2\x80\x93 two eyed seeing, and other perspectives as required. With this approach, the CEO will collaborate DAHC-wide to advance and strengthen the DAHC\xe2\x80\x99s capacity and commitment to a culturally aware, culturally sensitive, and culturally safe, fair, and equitable health and wellness services and programs.
