Chief Engineer
to lead our Engineering Department and ensure the safety, functionality, and sustainability of all hotel systems and infrastructure.

Position Summary
The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and long-term integrity of the hotel's physical infrastructure. This leadership role manages all engineering projects, ensures routine inspections and preventive maintenance are completed, and maintains strict control over departmental budgets and expenditures. The Chief Engineer also serves as the primary liaison with contractors and vendors, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, train, and supervise the maintenance & security staff.
Plan, manage, and execute capital improvement and renovation projects from concept to completion.
Conduct routine inspections of the property to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of all systems.
Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are developed and followed for all equipment and building systems.
Manage and monitor department budgets, control expenses, and provide regular financial reporting.
Oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and mechanical systems.
Negotiate, manage, and coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for services, supplies, and large-scale repairs.
Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards (OSHA, local building codes, etc.).
Respond promptly and effectively to guest and staff maintenance requests.
Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation for inspections, repairs, and expenditures.
Develop and implement energy management and cost-saving initiatives.
Participate in emergency response and preparedness procedures.
Co-Chair of the Health & Safety Committee.
Qualifications
Journeyman ticket or 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate an asset
Strong knowledge and understanding of Engineering and Maintenance process
minimum 2-3 years experience in progressively senior role
Experience in preventative maintenance, fire safety, energy management, and health and safety
Above average forecasting, scheduling, budgeting and cost analysis and reduction skills
Strong Knowledge of OHSA
Strong computer literacy
