The Village of Teslin is a scenic community strategically located where the Nisutlin River flows into Teslin Lake. It is a unique rural community with a rich cultural history that serves a population of 450 people, of which roughly 2/3 are of Inland Tlingit First Nations ancestry. The area boasts some great hunting and fishing, and the community has fantastic infrastructure, including a public dock and marina, playgrounds, and a recreation complex with an exercise facility and an arena with artificial ice. The Village of Teslin has an exciting future with an outstanding working relationship with Teslin Tlingit Council, a self-governing First Nation, and a 10-year Joint Community Development Plan.
The Mayor and Council seek a dynamic individual to help lead our administrative team.
Summary of Responsibilities
Provide exceptional leadership and strategic direction to the municipal organization.
Inspire excellence in the delivery of public services to residents and businesses.
Continue to develop collaborative relationships within the community and with other levels of government.
Familiar with all current occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Municipal Act, accepted accounting procedures, bylaws, and policy development.
Demonstrate innovation and sustainable practices.
Transition the municipality successfully into its future.
Qualifications
3 to 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as an executive leader in the public or private sector.
Experience directing during a time of transition.
Superior ability to lead, motivate and manage a management team comprised of a public works foreman, recreation manager, and finance assistant.
Strong organizational, supervisory and time management skills.
Exemplary communication, public relations, and conflict resolution skills.
Effective municipal business planning and budgeting skills.
Exceptional people skills and integrity that will enable you to quickly gain the trust and respect of Council, staff and the community.
Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
Positive record of working with elected officials, the public and key stakeholders
