The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the subject, excellent communication skills, and a student-centered teaching approach. You'll work with learners at the high school or college level, helping them grasp key concepts, solve complex problems, and succeed in exams such as AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry, SAT Subject Tests, or college coursework.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in chemistry.
Teach core chemistry topics such as atomic structure, bonding, stoichiometry, chemical reactions, thermodynamics, kinetics, and acids/bases.
Assist students with homework, lab reports, test prep, and study strategies.
Create personalized lesson plans tailored to each student's learning style and academic needs.
Use real-world examples and hands-on approaches (virtual or in-person) to make complex concepts easier to understand.
Track student progress and provide regular feedback to students and/or parents.
Maintain a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Stay updated on curriculum standards and exam requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Solid understanding of general, organic, and/or AP-level chemistry.
Prior tutoring or teaching experience is preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to simplify and clearly explain complex chemical concepts.
Proficiency with virtual teaching tools (for remote sessions).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience preparing students for AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry, or SAT Subject Tests.
Teaching credential or tutoring certification.
Familiarity with lab techniques and safety procedures.
Experience using virtual lab simulations or online whiteboards.
