Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Chemistry Teacher . The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, curriculum-aligned instruction in chemistry to students in Grades 9-12. The teacher will foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver chemistry lessons aligned with the Ontario Science Curriculum (SNC1D, SCH3U, SCH4U, etc.) Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and technologies to support diverse learners Design and implement lab experiments with attention to safety protocols Assess, evaluate, and report on student progress using formative and summative assessments Create a positive, respectful classroom environment that supports student well-being Participate in school events, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress Adapt instructional materials for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or English Language Learners (ELLs) Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and assessments

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with Intermediate/Senior qualifications in Science and Chemistry Valid Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification (or eligibility for certification) Criminal background check including vulnerable sector screening

Preferred:

Experience teaching in a secondary school setting Familiarity with inquiry-based and experiential learning models Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to integrate digital tools (e.g., Google Classroom, simulations, virtual labs) Passion for student-centered learning and inclusive education
