Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.Our laboratory team consists of highly skilled and highly motivated individuals that support the analytical requirement of the operations team, on a 24-hour/365-day basis.With Safety as the number one priority, we provide quality data to our customers to ensure the optimal performance of our facility. In addition, we provide technical leadership along with environmental and final product analysis.We operate and maintain an extensive network of analysers, most of which are the newest technologies available.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Chemist to join our Laboratory Team in Long Harbour, NL. This is a permanent position.This permanent position will be on a shift schedule (days only) working at the Long Harbour Operations site in Long Harbour, NL.The Chemist will prepare and perform routine and non-routine analysis of hydrometallurgical and environmental samples in a safe, accurate, timely, and cost-effective manner. They will use knowledge and skills to validate procedures, recommend and implement improvements, and train other team members on laboratory techniques. Additionally, in this position, you will:

  • Use Laboratory Information Management System to track and report sample results.
  • Approve technical data and liaise with customers to monitor service and resolve customer complaints.
  • Suggest improvements to procedures, instruments, and equipment.
  • Perform and document routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair analytical instruments and equipment.
  • Submit work requests related to instruments, equipment, and facilities, and work with on-Site technical staff, lab staff and vendor support to resolve problems.
  • Assist in monitoring and ordering of supplies.
  • Assist in other areas of the laboratory as required.
About YouEducation:
  • Post-secondary education in Chemistry or Sciences preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Work within mining and/or industrial facilities.
Skills:
  • Strives to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Have a consistent positive attitude towards work, including customer and peer relationships.
  • Good organization, time management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of various lab procedures and equipment, including ICP-OES.
  • Experience in maintaining analytical equipment, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Experience in SOP writing/development.
  • Quality control experience.
