Position Summary


The School of Trades & Technology is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Chemistry Laboratory Technologist to support the preparation, maintenance, and safety of our academic chemistry laboratories. This role is essential to ensuring smooth lab operations, accurate inventory management, and compliance with safety regulations.

Position Responsibilities


The successful candidate will fulfill the following responsibilities:Prepare Chemistry Laboratory materials and provide ongoing technical assistance to faculty, students, and new lab staff. Deliver orientation and training on the correct use of lab equipment and materials to promote safe practices. Support instructional goals by supplying necessary resources and guidance, enabling faculty and students to perform reliable and compliant laboratory experiments. Ensure all science experiments are conducted safely and accurately by verifying the availability and proper setup of required equipment and chemicals. Maintain a secure and efficient learning environment through diligent management of equipment, chemical inventories, and SDS documentation.


Required Qualifications


Two (2) years of post-secondary training, completion of a community college certificate including trades apprenticeships or equivalent in Chemical Technology First Aid, Level C CPR and WHMIS certificates required Driver's License required One (1) to two (2) years related experience Safety training and up to date with current regulations for working in the chemical laboratory setting Excellent knowledge of chemical materials and equipment Proficient in the use of FTIR, NMR, GC-MS and other lab equipment Excellent interpersonal skills Good computer skills with current word and excel programs Experienced in working with inventory systems Excellent time management skills Strong attention to detail Highly adaptable

An additional 15% of hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
