We are seeking a talented and passionate chef/cook (or chef in training) for our tasting room/bar food program. This is a unique opportunity to create and execute a small but inspired menu from scratch for a new (opened September 2023) small craft cider, beer, & wine bar.
Operating hours are currently Thurs-Saturday, afternoon/evenings only. Capacity is 60 with potential for more seats (and extended days/hours) in summer season.
We're looking to collaborate with a like-minded person to offer our patrons a small, simple yet creative menu. Our vision is something easy and comfortable. No table service involved in a streamlined operation.
The kitchen space is small but workable for 1-2 people, similar. Fully equipped with a gas oven/range, high temp dishwasher, fridge and 2 tabletop fryers already installed with the ability to purchase additional equipment necessary for you to execute the menu.
We are also open to simply leasing the kitchen space out entirely which will accompany our bar.
You'll have the ability to create your own schedule, and work along side small but mighty team that is passionate about craft beverages and delivering great service in a unique building. Our knowledgeable and dedicated staff includes a sommelier plus experienced cidermakers and brewers. We host many public and private events and take pride in offering a curated, yet comfortable experience for all who come through our doors. Catering these events would also be part of the role.
Flexible work hours with a competitive performance-based compensation structure that can be negotiated or designed around goals that works for both parties. Shared tip out, discounted products/drinks/food etc., would be standard.
Duties
Design dishes/menu, source, prepare and cook high-quality meals.
Set up and oversee the entirety of the kitchen operations, including hiring/managing additional kitchen staff (if needed)
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment while adhering to food safety regulations.
Collaborate with management to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings.
Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and place orders as necessary to maintain stock.
Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning efficiently.
Requirements
Proven experience or training in a similar role (ie. catering, food truck, menu design, start-up) within the food industry.
Strong knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations.
Can-do attitude, self-starter is a must.
Experience in restaurant management is preferred but not required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and management.
Bartending experience is a plus but not mandatory.
