Job Purpose

The Kitchen Manager oversees the daily operations of the kitchen and kitchen staff at The Wild And Free Cafe. This role is also responsible for overseeing food preparation, ordering supplies, and monitoring inventory. A successful Kitchen Manager is a superb communicator, exhibiting exceptional leadership and organizational skills as well as creativity and ingenuity.

Duties and Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities:

? Create and maintain a work environment in line with the company culture: safe, enjoyable, trauma-informed.

? Be aligned and knowledgeable (willing to become knowledgeable) about the vision of The Wild And Free Cafe and ensure the company acts according to its intended vision

? Overseeing food preparation and day to day kitchen operations

? Training and supervising kitchen staff alongside Head Barista/Supervisor

? Inspecting supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure health and food safety standards are being met

? Work with Head Barista to order materials, supplies, and ingredients depending on inventory level

? Ensuring kitchen is organized and clean

? Act as shift supervisor in the absence of other management

? Addressing complaints regarding food quality or service

? Assist in menu creation and execution, ensuring a consistent quality and efficient processes for an exceptional dining experience

Key Qualifications

? 1 year of experience as a kitchen manager or any related position in food service.

? Safe Food Handling Certificate

? Able to obtain/pass a vulnerable sector check

? A degree in restaurant management or certification from culinary school is a plus.

? In-depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations

? Able to communicate clearly and confidently in English. (All other languages an asset)

Working Conditions

? The full-time position works 35-40 hours per week on a flexible schedule TBD between Monday and Saturday (Some evening hours)

? Hours outside of typical working schedule may be required; re: special events etc.

? Exposure to very hot temperature

? May be exposed to safety hazards (e.g. slippery floor, hot oven, sharp objects)

? Standing for extended periods of time

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
