The Role



We're looking for a

Chef / Culinary Manager

to lead our kitchen team and meal programs in Kawartha Lakes. This is a

hands-on role

--you'll plan menus, prepare meals, and manage kitchen operations, while also building community partnerships with local farms and schools.

If you're a Red Seal Chef or have a background in Culinary or Food Services Management, and you love the idea of combining your skills with purpose-driven community care, this role is for you.

What You'll Do



Lead daily kitchen operations and supervise part-time cooks, volunteers, and student placements. Prepare and present

250-350 meals per week

, ensuring nutrition, quality, and comfort. Develop menus that reflect client dietary needs and cultural preferences. Manage inventory, ordering, and food costs within budget. Ensure

100% compliance with Public Health and food safety standards

. Oversee the

Pay-It-Forward program

, providing meals to those in need. Support catering for Purple House events and community programs.

What We're Looking For



Culinary background:

Red Seal Chef and/or diploma in Culinary/Food Services Management (or equivalent).

Experience:

Minimum 5 years in a kitchen environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Certifications:

Safe Food Handler's, CPR/First Aid, clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

Skills:

Strong leadership, budgeting, and ability to mentor staff/volunteers.

Mindset:

Compassionate, flexible, and committed to making food part of care. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
