Southern Lakes Resort is an off-grid property, remotely located 100km Southeast of Whitehorse, YT.
We are looking to expand our team by adding a versatile, reliable, punctual and dedicated person as our
head chef
.
We are looking for a Head Chef who would ideally like to work with us for more than just one season. Our summer season is from June to mid-October and our winter season is from December to early April.
Accommodation (modern private room with lake view, balcony, private bathroom, shared kitchen and living room) and meals are provided free of charge.
Main duties are:
Prepping and cooking meals according to current restaurant menu
Plan menus and efficient utilisation of raw materials and leftovers
Maintaining and ensuring public food safety standards, as well as resort specific standards of hospitality
Keeping record of stock and preparing orders of new inventory
Ensuring food storage according to Food Safe Level 1 standards and following standards of public safety when handling food and equipment.
Prepare and serve breakfast for in-house guests if needed.
Serving meals and collecting money from customers, both inhouse and walk-in restaurant guests if needed
Clean kitchen with second chef other staff.
Planning and execution of Events in accordance with management
Act as representant of SLR and its management, maintain required level of customer service towards third parties
Report maintenance needs and major repairs to management
Supervising and training of other kitchen personnel and coordinating their assignments to ensure economical and timely and safe food production
Maintain methods of food preparation, portion sizes and plating/decoration procedures
Prepare and cook food for staff
Manage food ordering and storage
Requirements
Education:
Completion of secondary school
Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks or completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety and cooking experience
Experiences:
several years of commercial cooking experience
Languages:
English
Specific skills:
Understanding and previous exposure to other cultures (Europe, South America, far East)
Candidate must be able to organize and execute work independently, maintain departmental standards and follow health and safety procedures. Training in health and safety is an asset.
