Freeport Recovery is a private, residential behavioral health facility located in St. Catharines, Ontario. We serve a small community of discerning clients who are focused on recovery, wellness, and personal transformation. Position Overview
We are seeking a
talented and motivated Chef
to lead our private kitchen and oversee all aspects of meal preparation for approximately 30 residents and staff, three times per day.
The ideal candidate will take pride in creating
healthy meals
in collaboration with our nutritionist and clinical team. You will have the autonomy to develop menus, source ingredients, and ensure meals align with our holistic wellness philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and serve three nutritious, balanced meals daily for approximately 30 guests and staff.
Collaborate with the nutritionist and clinical team to design
evidence-based, health-focused menus
that support recovery and wellness.
Source and utilize
organic, locally grown ingredients
whenever possible.
Manage kitchen staff and oversee all aspects of food service, including scheduling, hiring, and training as the team expands.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen in line with public health and food safety regulations.
Accommodate diverse dietary needs, including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and allergen-sensitive options.
Manage kitchen budgets, ordering, and inventory efficiently.
Create a positive, welcoming kitchen environment that contributes to the overall therapeutic setting.
Qualifications
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Chef, preferably in private, healthcare, or hospitality settings.
Experience with
nutrition-focused or therapeutic meal planning
is a strong asset.
Red Seal certification or equivalent culinary training preferred.
Strong knowledge of special diets, allergies, and food sensitivities.
Self-directed, organized, and capable of managing all aspects of a professional kitchen.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for wellness and recovery-focused living.
Hours & Schedule
Daytime hours, with some flexibility as needed.
Full-time, on-site position in St. Catharines.
Occasional weekend or special event coverage may be required.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary:
$60,000 - $75,000 annually
