The Distillery Restaurants Corp., creators of Cluny Bistro, El Catrin, Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill, Madrina Bar y Tapas, District Pizza and Distillery Events (Archeo and The Loft) are seeking an experienced and innovative Chef de Cuisine to assist our Executive Chef and the Chef team at Cluny Bistro and Boulangerie, our beautiful French restaurant.The ideal candidate is not only an exceptionally creative chef, but a great teacher and mentor with a strong growth mindset. They not only understand that exceptional food is at the heart of hospitality but that they are an ambassador to Toronto's unique food and beverage culture.NOTE: You must already have legal permission to work in Canada to be considered for this role.What youxe2x80x99ll experience with The Distillery Restaurant Corp.:

• $80,000 - $85,000 per year, plus benefits (medical, dental, drug coverage, etc.)

What you will be doing:

• Collaborating on menu creation, recruitment and succession planning.
• Hands-on cooking - this is not an office/administrative role.
• Assisting with food costing, menu writing and implementation.
• Maintaining and improving food and labour costs and established budgets.
• Actively involved with training of all staff in the back of house
• Actively involved with training all staff on new menu items in the front of house.
• Maintaining standards as established by the Director of Culinary and DRC while operating a safe, sanitary and hygienic work environment as per the Public Health department.
• Assisting with the hiring, onboarding and training and development initiatives as well as performance management and employee coaching.
• Reinforcing the DRCxe2x80x99s mission of delivering exceptional experiences by people who care, and inspire the team with your exciting vision for the future.
• Other duties as required or assigned.

What youxe2x80x99ll bring to the kitchen:

• EXPERIENCE. You have years of cooking experience, ideally an extensive amount with French cuisine. You have created menus and love being part of the creative process.

• EDUCATION/TRAINING. You have a culinary degree/diploma and/or the equivalent in education and experience. You also enjoy educating and training others.

• COMMUNICATION SKILLS. You demonstrate exceptional relationship building and communication skills among your team members at the restaurant in both BOH and FOH.
