Senior IT Project Manager

Responsibilities
At EBC, the main role of the IT Project Manager is to lead, oversee, and ensure the successful delivery and management of one or more projects. They must manage scope boundaries, timelines, and costs responsibly. These factors, though sometimes clearly defined, may also require dynamic change management to create business value. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing proposals or project plans to determine schedules, funding limits, project execution procedures, staffing needs, and allocation of available departmental resources to different project phases. Contribute to project strategies and deliverable prioritization.
  • Identifying and planning project deliverables, milestones, and activities, while coordinating stakeholder availability.
  • Providing leadership and motivation to the project team throughout the project lifecycle, and working with staff to define a work plan.
  • Acting as a coach for junior project managers, managers, and others in need of guidance on project management practices.
  • Developing work plans and staffing for project activities, iterations, or phases, and coordinating the recruitment or assignment of project staff.
  • Analyzing project proposals to determine schedules, funding boundaries, and appropriate processes for project completion.
  • Implementing a project communication plan.
  • Conducting risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Monitoring project activities to ensure timeliness, quality, and integrity of information, while maintaining consistency in content and presentation across the organization.
  • Ensuring that project objectives align with the business unit's objectives.
  • Ensuring project goals are achieved.
  • Assigning tasks and responsibilities to project staff and defining their level of authority.
  • Directing and coordinating project staff activities to ensure projects progress on time and within budget.
  • Reviewing project status reports prepared by staff and adjusting schedules or plans as needed.
  • Establishing standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
  • Continuously evaluating project management performance to identify improvement opportunities and strengthen project/portfolio management capabilities.
  • Approving or setting the work plan of an external service provider or consulting firm engaged to execute the project (if applicable).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Intelligence, or other relevant experience.
  • Seven or more years of IT experience at increasingly responsible levels, with sensitivity and commitment to solving business problems.
  • Five years of successful management of complex, high-risk projects.
  • Five or more years of experience in or working directly with a business unit (BU), with commitment to addressing business challenges.
  • Experience leading diverse teams.
  • Distinctive mix of business, IT, financial, and communication skills -- essential given the role's visibility and significant impact.
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging technologies, and how other organizations use them to drive digital transformation.
  • Knowledge of project management methodology and familiarity with major program management frameworks (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2, Agile approaches).
  • Advanced knowledge of project planning/scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Open Workbench), with solid hands-on application.
  • Bilingual (English/French, spoken and written).
  • Strong expertise with Microsoft Modern Work (asset).
  • Familiarity with the construction business sector (asset).

Responsabilites
Chez EBC, l'objectif principal du role de Charge de projet TI est de diriger, superviser et assurer la livraison et la gestion reussies d'un ou de plusieurs projets. Il devra faire une saine gestion des limites et du perimetre, en adequation des limites, des delais et des couts. Ces facteurs peuvent etre clairement definis necessitant une gestion dynamique du changement pour generer de la valeur commerciale. Les principales fonctions seront de :
  • Examiner les propositions ou les plans de projet pour determiner un calendrier, les limites de financement, les procedures de realisation des projets, les besoins en personnel et l'affectation des ressources departementales disponibles aux differentes phases du projet. Participer aux strategies de projet et de priorisation des livrables;
  • Identifier et planifier les livrables du projet, les jalons et les activites bien ancres avec la mise en disponibilite des parties prenantes;
  • Assurer leadership et motivation aux membres de l'equipe de projet tout au long du cycle de vie du projet et discuter avec le personnel du projet pour definir un plan de travail;
  • Agir en tant que coach aupres des charges de projet juniors, des cadres et autres personnes ayant besoin d'aide et de conseils concernant les pratiques de gestion de projet;
  • Etablir un plan de travail et une dotation en personnel pour les activites, iterations ou phases du projet, et organiser le recrutement ou l'affectation du personnel du projet;
  • Analyser les propositions de projets pour determiner un calendrier, des limites de financement et des processus appropries pour realiser les projets;
  • Mettre en oeuvre un plan de communication du projet;
  • Effectuer une evaluation et une attenuation des risques;
  • Surveiller les activites du projet, en garantissant l'actualite, la qualite et l'integrite des informations, tout en assurant la coherence du contenu et de l'apparence dans toute l'organisation;
  • S'assurer que les objectifs du projet sont conformes aux objectifs commerciaux du BU*;
  • S'assurer que les objectifs du projet sont atteints;
  • Attribuer des taches et des responsabilites au personnel du projet et definir l'etendue de leur autorite;
  • Diriger et coordonner les activites du personnel du projet pour garantir que les projets progressent dans les delais et dans les limites du budget;
  • Examiner les rapports d'etat prepares par le personnel du projet et modifier les calendriers ou les plans selon les besoins;
  • Etablir des normes et des procedures pour les rapports et la documentation du projet;
  • Evaluer continuellement les performances de gestion de projet pour identifier le potentiel d'amelioration et accroitre les capacites de gestion de projet et du portefeuille;
  • Approuver/etablir le plan de travail d'un prestataire de services externe ou d'un cabinet de conseil engage pour executer le projet. (Si applicable).
Exigences
  • Detenir un baccalaureat en informatique, en intelligence d'affaires ou autre experience pertinente;
  • Sept annees ou plus d'experience en informatique a des niveaux de responsabilite de plus en plus eleves, avec sensibilite et engagement dans la resolution de problemes commerciaux;
  • Cinq annees de gestion reussie de projets complexes et risques;
  • Cinq annees ou plus d'experience en BU ou en contact direct avec une BU, avec sensibilite et engagement dans la resolution de problemes commerciaux;
  • Experience dans la direction d'equipes diversifiees;
  • Melange distinctif de competences en affaires, en informatique, en finances et en communication. Ce melange est vital car il s'agit d'un poste tres visible avec un impact substantiel;
  • Bonne comprehension des technologies actuelles et emergentes, ainsi que de la maniere dont d'autres entreprises les utilisent pour stimuler leur activite numerique;
  • Connaissance de la methodologie de gestion de projet et experience ou familiarite avec les grandes approches de gestion de programme definies (par exemple celle du Project Management Institute ou PRINCE2 et les approches agiles);
  • Connaissance approfondie des outils de planification/planification de projets (par exemple, Microsoft Project et Open Workbench), avec une solide experience d'application pratique;
  • Bilinguisme (Anglais/Francais, parle et ecrit);
