Your new role




Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Civil and Structural Discipline Lead will be responsible for validating, approving, and providing technical oversight of systems and infrastructure related to their discipline and implementation during the pre-construction phase of the Windfall mining project. He will also be responsible for ensuring that technical standards and industrial and mining safety regulations are strictly followed. The position is based in Montreal and requires occasional travel on site.

Responsibilities



Provide technical guidance and supervision to the engineering team. Participate in the department's design and development process; Offer engineering guidelines for the discipline that will be used in the project; Make sure that engineering processes are followed and optimized, and give instructions to services providers on how to follow them; Make sure that engineering quality processes are fully implemented; Mare sure that design standardization is implemented throughout the project to improve the efficiency of outcomes; Oversee the integration of application's scope in various fields of application; Ensure that the engineering discipline is aligned with the requirements of other engineering disciplines; Approve all engineering deliverables on behalf of the owner teams and make sure that the design meet site standards and contribute to the achievement of the project objectives; Monitor engineering productivity and take appropriate action, including establishing recovery plans; Approve specialized suppliers and service providers in the discipline; Make sure that technical designs for all disciplines are completed, keeping in mind the optimization of construction, commissioning and operation; Manage the cost and schedule for each discipline.

What you need to succeed



Degree in civil engineering or structural engineering and a minimum of 10 years engineering experience in an industrial environment, including several years in the mining sector, ideally in the construction of isolated or underground environments; Solid understanding of structural and civil engineering concepts used in mining infrastructure, including foundations, concrete structures, steel structures, mining roads, basins, retaining walls, and surface forms; Expertise in the design and verification of structures associated with mining facilities, in compliance with geotechnical, climatic and operational conditions specific to the sector; Excellent knowledge of Canadian and international standards in structural and civil engineering, including those related to seismic resistance, freeze/thaw, mining loads and safety; Experience in supervision and technical validation of various infrastructures; Strong technical and problem solving skills; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Collaboration with other engineering disciplines, functions, and service providers; Previous exposure to project delivery using the EPCM methodology; Bilingualism (French and English); Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across disciplines; Analytical skills, independence, rigor, and the ability to handle stress and deadlines; Member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec.
