Your new role




Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Electrical Discipline Lead will be responsible for the validation, approval, and technical oversight of electrical systems designed by external partner firms as part of our Windfall mining project in pre-construction phase. The role ensures strict compliance with technical standards and industrial and mining safety regulations. The position is primarily based in Montreal with occasional travel to the project site.


Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and oversight to the engineering team within the discipline. Contribute to the design and development within the discipline. Recommend the engineering standards for the discipline to be applied throughout the project. Ensure engineering processes are followed and optimized and provide guidance to service providers on the engineering procedures to be applied. Ensure that engineering quality processes are fully implemented. Manage the standardization of designs across the project to improve output efficiency. Oversee the integration of the scope across the different application areas. Ensure the engineering discipline aligns with the requirements of other engineering disciplines. Approve all engineering deliverables for the discipline on behalf of the owner's team, ensuring that designs meet site standards and contribute to achieving project objectives. Monitor engineering productivity and intervene when corrective action is required, including the development of recovery plans. Approve specialized vendors and service providers related to the discipline. Ensure that technical designs are completed with consideration for construction, commissioning, and operational optimization. Manage the discipline's cost and schedule.

What you'll need to succeed



Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience in an industrial environment, ideally with a few years of experience in underground mining. Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ). Strong understanding of engineering principles and processes. Expertise in industrial electrical systems, including distribution, switchgear, protection, and safety. Thorough knowledge of Canadian and international electrical standards. Experience in supervising and technically validating complex electrical installations. Ability to mentor and guide engineering teams. Strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Collaboration with other engineering disciplines, functions, and service providers. Prior exposure to project execution under the IAGC (EPCM) methodology. Bilingualism (French and English) with strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills. Analytical skills, autonomy, rigor, and ability to manage stress and deadlines.
