Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager of Spiritual Care. The Chaplain will serve as an interfaith Chaplain to minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of the patients, family, friends and hospital staff. The Chaplain is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations. The Chaplain complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three years of satisfactory pastoral/spiritual experience
- Ecclesiastical endorsement for ministry by an appropriate religious authority in one's faith community
- Active membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education
- This position requires a physically and emotionally stable person who has the desire and the skills to work with the sick and dying
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in stressful situations while maintaining a calm demeanour and has good physical and mental health to withstand the strenuous and long hours involved
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrates high standards of ethical behaviour, professionalism and confidentiality
- French language skills an asset
- Undergraduate degree or diploma ~ required
- Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education ~ required
- Master of Arts & Pastoral Ministry ~ preferred
