Job Description

The Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness is accountable for ensuring smooth, efficient institutional operations and supporting the strategic priorities of Dalhousie by providing shared services in the space of strategy development, project and planning support, data warehousing, governance and advanced analytics. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Planning and Strategy, the Change Management Consultant will be a key contributor to Dalhousie's transformation initiatives, supporting organizational change across key projects and initiatives. The Change Management Consultant will work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure stakeholder engagement and sustainable change.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of change management strategies that align with institutional goals and support successful project outcomes.
  • Conduct change impact assessments, stakeholder analyses, and develop tailored communication plans to promote awareness, engagement, and adoption.
  • Partner with People and Culture and institutional leaders to ensure employees are supported through transitions, while maintaining morale, trust, and alignment with organizational values.
  • Design and deliver training programs, workshops, and resources to prepare stakeholders for new systems, processes, and ways of working.
  • Monitor change adoption through feedback, engagement metrics, and readiness assessments; identify resistance and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Promote continuous improvement by evaluating the effectiveness of change initiatives and maintaining a toolkit of templates, resources, and best practices.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate Degree in business, organizational development, psychology or a related field, plus a minimum of five years' of progressive relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Proven experience leading or supporting large-scale transformation initiatives within complex organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and judgement is key, along with adaptive and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships, facilitating workshops and influence stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
Assets
  • Experience working in a unionized, public sector, or higher education environment.
