Job Description

Stevenson-Britannia Adult Learning and Literacy, Inc is seeking a certified teacher for our Flex program. This program supports learners for whom a traditional classroom schedule is a barrier for success and require asynchronous instruction and support, both online and in-person, to complete Transactional English 40S and/or Essential Math 40S credits. The Flex program offers learners continuous enrolment, a flexible schedule, modular learning opportunities, and one-on-one support. Applicants must hold a valid Manitoba K-12 teaching certificate (Bachelor of Education Degree). The successful applicant must pass a criminal record and child abuse registry check prior to signing a contract. Other preferred qualifications include:

• Knowledge of principles and issues specific to adult learning and literacy
• Strong grasp of and interest in the course subject matter, including Essential Math 40S and Transactional English 40S
• Experience creating, maintaining, and managing a digital classroom using Microsoft Teams
• Experience and enthusiasm working with adult learners
• Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with a small group of adult learning teaching/administrative staff and volunteers
• Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
• Awareness of the issues effecting people living in marginalized/disadvantaged circumstances

This is a part-time, term-contract position. Hours of work are Tuesday and Thursdays from 12:30 - 3:30 PM and Tuesday evenings from 6 - 9 PM. There is a potential for increased hours and courses depending on funding, enrolment, and applicant\'s prior teaching experience.
