Certified Education Assistant (M-F, 7hrs day, 8am-3pm)

to join our team of professionals.

Position Purpose

Splatsin is seeking an experienced Certified Education Assistant to join Shihiya School. Working 35 hours per week, this position is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher and students in all areas inside and outside the classroom.

As the Shihiya School Certified Education Assistant, you will be following the classroom teacher's instructions, implementing programs as well as providing supervision including recess and lunch. You will assist individual students and work with small groups under the direction of the classroom teacher. You will also be carrying out programs provided by professionals (Speech Pathologist, OT).

Position Requirements:

Valid Certified Education Assistant Certificate Ability to recognize individual learning styles Excellent interpersonal skills Effective oral and written communication skills Proficient computer skills Discretion and respect for confidentiality Cultural sensitivity, with experience in First Nations schools and communities is an asset Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector search Valid Class 5 Drivers License Cultural Safety Training
