Job Overview


We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Counselor to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to children and their families, offering guidance, emotional support, and case management in a clinical or hospital setting. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote patient well-being. The Counselor will play a vital role in assisting patients through their treatment journeys, ensuring they receive comprehensive care tailored to their individual needs.

Duties



Provide emotional support and counseling services to children and their families facing medical challenges Assist with patient care planning and coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure holistic support Conduct research and gather data related to patient progress and treatment outcomes Manage case files, document patient interactions, and track progress using appropriate medical terminology Support patients with special education needs by developing individualized strategies for effective communication and engagement Collect data for quality improvement initiatives and research projects Collaborate with pediatric specialists, hospital staff, and social workers to develop comprehensive care plans Participate in team meetings to discuss patient cases and contribute insights for improved care delivery

Experience



Prior experience working with children in a healthcare or educational setting is highly preferred Experience in hospital environments, particularly in pediatrics or patient care roles, is advantageous Familiarity with research methodologies, data collection, and medical terminology is beneficial Background in case management or patient advocacy enhances effectiveness in this role Experience working with children with special education needs or developmental challenges is a plus Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to handle sensitive situations are essential for success in this position
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Port Colborne, ON L3K 3E7
