Certified Cook - Full Time

As a certified chef you will be responsible for making sure that food is prepared to the exact specifications of the head chef, establishment, and residents. The certified chef will work with a strong dedicated team who take pride in preparing fresh, high-quality fare for active, discerning residents. We welcome new ideas and a keen understanding of what our customer's value in food services.

Please note this position is for our Trinity Lodge location

Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

Station Set Up:

The line cook is responsible for preparing their station before the start of each service. The line cook must make sure that all the supplies that will be needed for meals are available and ready for use. This can include preparing some items in advance, or performing simple tasks such as stocking the station with plates and bowls.

Prepping Food:

The line cook will be asked to prep food for service each day. This can mean chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces. Depending on the needs of the kitchen, the line cook may also be asked to prepare items for other stations or for special events.

Cooking:

During meal service, the line cook is responsible for preparing the items requested from their station. This requires working with the Chef and other staff in the kitchen to make sure that food is ready at the right time and in the right order so that it arrives at the resident's table ready to eat and at the right temperature.

Clean Up:

At the end of service, the line cook is responsible for cleaning their station, and may be asked to help other cooks clean up their stations. This means disposing of garbage and compost, cleaning utensils, pots, and pans, and cleaning cooking surfaces. The line cook will also be responsible for taking care of leftover food, whether that means disposing of it, returning unused items to the correct inventory location, or storing cooked goods for use at another service.

Stocking:

The line cook is also called on to unload delivery trucks and store inventory correctly. This can mean stocking pantries or walk in refrigerators, or simply inventorying items and reporting to the Chef.

Baking:

The line cook is responsible for ensuring that the weekly baking needs are met. This includes understanding what the needs are, ensuring that the ingredients are available, planning the baking into the daily activities, producing baked goods and storing them appropriately for use.

Qualifications



Graduate of recognized college food preparation program, Certified Red Seal certificate or equivalent program. Must have regional safe food handlers certificate.

Strong communication skills combined with demonstrated teamwork abilities and customer service excellence

5 years of experience in the hospitality industry is preferred

Highly skilled in setting up stations inside the kitchen

Committed to practice, check, and strengthen food safety procedures

Proficient in maintaining a safe working environment utilizing food safety plan

Able to re-stock all items as required all through shift

Proven record of delivering outstanding customer service by preparing food items consistently and adhering to all recipe standards

Good math and written communication skills

Able to be responsive to a flexible timetable based on food service requirements

Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef

Demonstrated ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment while delivering quality results

HOURS OF WORK:

Weekdays, evenings and weekends to meet the dining needs of residents. Shifts typically between the hours of 6:00 am to 7:30 pm.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (22.68 kg.)

Must be able to stand/walk for 4 hours continuously.

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
