CERTIFIED ADDICTIONS WORKER FOR BLACK LAKE

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE POSITION OF A FULL TIME ADDICTIONS WORKER IN BLACK LAKE, SK FOR THE ATHABASCA HEALTH AUTHORITY.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

To implement a range of activities at preventing and/or reducing the incidence of alcohol and drug abuse in the community. To provide early identification and intervention services for individuals abusing alcohol and drugs. To provide referral services to individuals in need of residential treatment. To provide aftercare services to individuals returning from residential treatment. Helping the clients re-enter the home community, encouraging involvement with the center's programs, and regular follow-up counseling contacts. Monitor clients' behaviour and progress, conducting client-counseling sessions. Prepare and present lectures, group therapy sessions, life skills activities, and special events. Counsel individuals, groups and families experiencing alcohol and drug abuse utilizing a variety of methods. Promote sobriety within the community, in support of community interagency wellness team.
QUALIFICATIONS:

A Certificate in Community Addictions from a recognized program. Computer skills. At least one year sobriety. Effective interpersonal communication skills. Self-motivated/self-directed. A strong commitment to health prevention, promotion and community development. Ability to speak Dene a strong asset.
