Job Summary
The Exam Invigilator monitors the accommodated exams for students with disabilities. This Exam Invigilator will be expected to have the ability to take shifts between 7:30 AM and 10:00 PM and the flexibility to commit to an average of 12 hours of work per week.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Team Lead - Accommodated Exams. Is supervised by the Exam Coordinators and works in a team with other exam invigilators.
Work PerformedPreparing, starting, monitoring, and ending exams for students with disabilities in private spaces or group settings.
Setting up adaptive and computer equipment for exams.
Compiling detailed and accurate records and incident reports.
Ensuring examinees adhere to UBC and Centre for Accessibility exam procedures.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and to treat all students and colleagues with fairness, dignity, and respect.
Maintaining good communication with Exam Coordinators and working as part of a team with other invigilators.
Ability to exercise discretion with tact when handling sensitive and/or confidential matters.
Completing tasks assigned by Exam Coordinators.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Failure to provide service that meets these standards may create hardships for students with disabilities seeking academic accommodation, compromise the relationship of the Centre for Accessibility with community constituents who may experience marginalization or disadvantage as a result of the interaction, or negatively impact the public image of the unit and University.

Receives supervision from the Exam Coordinators and the Team Lead - Accommodated Exams.

Preferred QualificationsMust be a registered student at the University of British Columbia
Strong preference for students who are registered in courses that do not require exams
Friendly demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to contribute to a positive, respectful and dynamic team environment
Ability to work and remain calm while under stress and pressure
Effective written and oral communication - compose detailed reports using clear, concise business English
Outstanding attention to detail and ability to accurately follow procedures
Punctuality and reliability
Ability to follow directions, work independently, and to work within a team environment
