Job Profile



Under the leadership of the Market Operations Department of CenerTech Clean Energy Branch, actively cooperate with the specific business units and departments under it to steadily develop the local CCUS market business in Canada. Assist the department in conducting pre-feasibility studies and feasibility studies for carbon capture projects, and complete process comparison and selection; liaison with APEGA and AER to obtain storage permits, and prepare NRCan ITC application materials; coordinate the Chinese design team with local suppliers to ensure the smooth progress of projects.


Job Responsibilities




1. Market Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on the dynamics of Canada's CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) market, including policies and regulations, industry trends, competitor analysis, and potential customer needs, to provide data support for the company in formulating market entry and expansion strategies.


2. Customer Relationship Development and Maintenance: Proactively engage with Canadian energy enterprises, potential carbon utilization customer groups, government agencies, research institutions, and potential partners, establish and maintain long-term and stable customer relationships, and explore CCUS project cooperation opportunities.


3. Project Promotion and Coordination: As a local representative, coordinate communication between CNOOC Development and local Canadian enterprises, governments, and technical service providers, and promote the smooth progress of CCUS projects from initial contact to feasibility study, project approval, contract signing, and subsequent implementation stages.


4. Policy and Compliance Support: Track the latest regulations in Canada, especially in Alberta, regarding carbon emissions, carbon trading, and CCUS incentive policies, ensure the company's projects comply with local legal requirements, and assist in applying for relevant subsidies or qualification certifications.


5. Brand and Business Promotion: Represent the company in participating in local industry conferences, exhibitions, forums, and other events, enhance the brand awareness of CNOOC Development in Canada's CCUS market, and promote the company's capabilities and experience in carbon capture and clean energy technologies.


Qualifications and competency requirements



Bachelor's degree. Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 Practitioner? Work Experience: At least 3 years of business experience in oil and gas/energy/chemical project development or carbon emission reduction technology, with a track record of at least one complete CCUS (or CO?-EOR, GHG emission reduction) project from preliminary business opportunity identification to contract signing, and familiarity with FEL1-FEL3 phase milestones. Candidates with experience in oil sands projects in Alberta are preferred. Project Experience: Led or played a core role in at least one feasibility study, economic evaluation, or EPC tender for CO? capture projects with a capacity of100,000 tons/year; must be able to provide red-flag technical reports, CAPEX/OPEX models, or excerpts of AER/BCOGC permit documents. Familiar with Canadian CCUS funding application processes (ITC, ERA, NRCan EIP), and candidates who have assisted clients in securing federal or provincial subsidies are preferred. Professional Requirement: Relevant majors include Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering, etc.; candidates with an MBA or a dual degree in Engineering Management are preferred. Capable of independently conducting market scanning, competitive analysis, and Pitch Book compilation. Proficient in reading PFD/P&ID diagrams. Familiar with Alberta's Carbon Sequestration Tenure Regulation, Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS), and CSA Z741. Demonstrated experience in efficient remote collaboration with technical, financial, and legal teams at the Chinese headquarters, and willing to accommodate flexible time-difference meetings." Canada's carbon tax trajectory, details of the federal CCUS Investment Tax Credit (ITC), and the impact of the Clean Fuel Regulations on project returns. Comparative analysis of advantages and disadvantages of mainstream carbon capture technologies (e.g., post-combustion capture, oxy-fuel combustion capture). Project financing fundamentals: sensitivity analysis of NPV, IRR, LCOH, and carbon credit pricing. Possession of a Class 5 driver's license, ability to conduct on-site reconnaissance independently, and willingness to participate in winter outdoor research. * Flexibility to adapt to time zone differences and attend nighttime conference calls with the China headquarters.
