Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CCTV Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV systems. This role requires a strong understanding of low voltage systems, the ability to read blueprints and schematics, and proficiency with both hand and power tools. The CCTV Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and functionality of surveillance systems for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Perform site surveys to determine optimal camera placement and identify wiring or mounting requirements.
Install and configure CCTV cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), power supplies and accessories.
Run network cables (Cat5e/6), set up PoE switches, and configure routers or Wi-Fi bridges as needed.
Test and commission systems to verify video quality, recording schedules and remote-viewing functionality.
Troubleshoot on-site and remotely via mobile-app or network diagnostics; replace or repair faulty hardware.
Advise clients on system operation, mobile-app use and preventive maintenance best practices.
Complete accurate service reports, time sheets and inventory logs after each job.
Ensure compliance with all municipal permit requirements and company safety policies.
Qualifications & Skills
2+ years of hands-on experience installing and servicing CCTV or IP-camera systems.
Strong understanding of video compression (H.264/H.265), PoE networking and basic IT configuration.
Comfortable working at heights (using ladders or lifts) and in confined spaces (attics/crawlspaces).
Valid Ontario G-Class driver's license and reliable vehicle for daily travel.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong customer-service orientation with clear verbal and written communication.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, site-plan drawings and technical manuals.
Comfortable using tablets/smartphones for diagnostics, reporting and client demos.
Post-secondary diploma or certification in Electronics, Security Systems or a related field is an asset.
