What does a CBSA Shift Supervisor in Etobicoke do?

As a

CBSA Tactical Security Supervisor

, you will lead and manage a team of tactical security guards, ensuring the safety and security of people in federal facilities who are experiencing immigration complications. This role requires vigilance, tactical skill, leadership, and compassion, as you will be working with individuals in vulnerable situations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision:

Assign guards to their required posts or assignments. Supervise all guards on duty, whether they are providing care and control of individuals at the IHC or satellite offices, conducting transports, or performing other contracted services. Receive shift briefings and debrief guards, ensuring they are up-to-date on procedures or situations within the first 15 minutes of each shift. Provide support, assistance, and ongoing training to all Contractor resources. Identify and document performance deficiencies and potential training gaps, recommending corrective actions as needed. Coordinate guard breaks, meal times, and individual placement according to CBSA guidance.

Operations & Compliance:

Plan, direct, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations at the facility. Develop, implement, and enforce security policies and procedures in accordance with POSOPs. Ensure all Contractor resources comply with POSOPs, policies, and procedures. Conduct required supervisory visits to posts within the IHC and satellite locations. Perform quality control checks and address deficiencies immediately. Manage and report emergency situations according to POSOPs until further CBSA guidance is provided. Ensure all required equipment, including fleet vehicles, is maintained in good working condition. Maintain up-to-date inventories of First-Aid kits and submit required reports regarding incidents or accidents.

Qualifications to become a CBSA Shift Supervisor in Etobicoke

Proven experience as a

Security Supervisor

, managing teams of 10+ guards. 1-3 years of personnel management experience in a

unionized environment

. Experience in healthcare or vulnerable sector environments is an asset.

Valid Ontario Security Guard License

.

Current First Aid/CPR Certification

from a WSIB-recognized provider.

Canadian citizen or permanent

resident with at least 5 years of residency. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to pass

Public Works Clearance

and

Vulnerable Sector Check

. Availability to work flexible full-time or part-time hours. Minimum 2 years of experience in

vulnerable sector security

. Minimum 2 years tactical security experience. Leadership skills and ability to manage high-stress environments effectively. Experience in care and control of individuals in law enforcement, court services, hospital, or private security services. Past employees who worked at the Immigration Holding Centre are encouraged to apply. A minimum of one (1) year experience in providing care and control of individuals (working in a fielddirectly related to law enforcement, court services, hospital orderly, or private security services); or one(1) year of experience specifically working on a security guard contract with the CBSA at an IHC orproviding care and control of CBSA individuals.
