Fraser Valley Cataract & Laser (FVCL) is a rapidly growing ophthalmology clinic specializing in advanced eye care and surgical procedures. Our team of nationally recognized ophthalmologists provides comprehensive services, including MSP-covered exams and surgeries, private lens procedures, and LASIK.

The Opportunity



We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented

Cataract Counselor / Ophthalmic Technician

to join our full-time team. This unique role blends patient counseling with technical clinical support. You will guide patients through their cataract and refractive surgery journey while also performing ophthalmic testing, assisting physicians, and supporting surgical procedures.

Training & Locations



This is a

multi-site position

. Training will take place at our Abbotsford and Surrey clinics during the first three months. After training, weekly schedules may include Abbotsford, Surrey, Chilliwack, and Langley as needed (e.g., 2 days in Abbotsford, 2 in Surrey, 1 in Chilliwack). Flexibility and willingness to travel are required.

Key Responsibilities




Educate and counsel patients on cataract and refractive surgery options (RLE, ICL, LASIK, PRK). Manage surgical slating, create charts, and coordinate follow-up calls. Compile and analyze monthly KPI reports. Perform diagnostic tests (OCT, visual field, topography, A-scan, Pentacam, etc.). Conduct patient workups, histories, and visual assessments. Assist during cataract and eyelid surgeries, laser procedures, and scribe for ophthalmologists. Ensure accurate charting, maintain inventory, and support clinic administration.



What We're Looking For




2-3 years of ophthalmology or medical clinic experience preferred. Knowledge of cataract and refractive surgeries (asset but not required). Excellent communication skills, especially with elderly patients. Proficiency with Google Drive, MS Office, and Accuro EMR. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and multitasking ability. Comfort with diagnostic equipment; fluency in Mandarin or Hindi is an asset.
