About the role




We’re looking to hire a Casualty Field Claims Representative to support the Southwestern Ontario region to help get our customers back on track, so they can focus on what matters to them most. This role will handle In person and virtual investigations for Casualty claims at all complexity levels. Provide quality service and ensure prompt and equitable settlement of claims in line with corporate policies and standards as well as any legislative requirements. ***Subject to change, this role will support field tasks from Windsor to Guelph and surrounding areas.*** What you’ll do here:

  • Handling task assignments for Casualty claims. Tasks may be completed virtually and/or in person with the customer depending on the situation and circumstance. Virtual tasks will be completed over the phone or video.
  • Investigate Casualty claims in a timely and respectful manner through communication with customers, lawyers, paralegals, employers and any other related parties
  • Complete various statements to assist with Casualty claims and provide recommendations to inside adjusters
  • Document the claim file by collecting and securing appropriate reports and statements from claimants, insureds, witnesses, and any other pertinent experts to determine coverage.
  • Participate in global mediations if required
  • Maintain current knowledge of insurance products, as well as investigation techniques and services Identify process improvement needs and recommend changes to policies or procedures to maintain quality service and competitiveness. Determine and/or establish key measures to monitor personal productivity and technical quality.
  • Communicate with Intact Brokers and Belair Underwriting as necessary.
  • Analyze the information gathered, interpret insurance policy wordings and provide recommendations to inside adjusters
  • Provide quality service to external or internal customers. Answer queries relating to investigations and the claims process. Maintain effective communication channels with claims departments and liaise with adjusters, experts, management, and other claims representatives on technical and administrative issues. Maintain productive business relationships with service providers.
  • Travel will be a part of the position.





Qualifications




What you bring to the table:
  • A college diploma or a university degree preferred (or equivalent business experience)
  • Completed or are working toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
  • 5 to 10+ years of claims handling experience, preferably experienced in Casualty Claims
  • Strong customer service and written communication skills
  • A concern for accuracy, quality and orderliness of work and information
  • Strong accountability to deliver high quality work
  • Technical expertise at least partly acquired through direct field experience, in the investigation, assessment and settlement of casualty claims
  • Proficient with technology
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Willing to work after hours or weekends on occasion
