Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Personal Support Worker to assist our male employer with Atypical Parkinson's who has challenges with speaking and communication, with all activities of daily living.

He enjoys playing dominos, watching TV, the news and reading the newspaper. He enjoys interacting and has a great sense of humor!

The ideal candidate will have a cheerful disposition, a good sense of humor, and good verbal communication skills.

Start Date: October 1, 2025

Location:

Vancouver, BC (Kitsilano Near McDonald's and 15th)

Available Shifts and hours for casual/backup:

Overnights: 8:00pm - 8:00am Days: 8:00am - 8:00pm No overtime for 12 hour shifts

Compensation:

$225 per night shift OR $25.00 an hour day shift

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

Night shift (Partial awake shift):

Personal care such as oral care, remove clothing, wash, prepare employer for bed and keep the employer, his clothing and bedding dry Ensure the employers safety and comfort throughout the night Night time medication administration Monitor for safety (not getting out of bed), and be aware throughout the night for any changes or needs Changing bed linens and night clothes during the night if required, cleaning areas if an accidents occurs, and putting clothes etc in the laundry Prepare the work area with all equipment and supplies needed for the night and next morning

Day shift:

Personal care such as toileting (commode and urinal), dressing, and washing throughout the day as needed Meal preparation (microwave), monitor meals for safety such as swallowing and avoiding aspiration, help with feeding, and provide thickened fluids Transfers using sara steady lift, and porch lift Light housekeeping such as laundry Engage in activities and outings in the employers wheelchair

Requirements:

Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with 2 booster shots (4 shots total)

Up to date flu shot and willing to get yearly

Must be comfortable working in an environment with cats

required

Driver's license and car

Living close to the area and on a transit route

an asset

Clear verbal communication

required

Must have a sense of humor, and a cheerful disposition

Experience with Parkinson's and Dementia

an asset
