Prairie Harm Reduction's Youth Services Program is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as Casual Youth Support Workers. Michael's Place and Esther's Home are harm reduction-based homes for youth ages 16 - 21 who are permanent wards of the Ministry of Social Services. The homes are designed to specifically support youth who use substances and have complex needs related to behaviour and mental health.
We operate 24/7 365 days a year. Our shifts are 12:00am-8:00am, 8:00am-4:00pm & 4:00pm-12:00am. Casual Youth Support Workers have the flexibility to pick up shifts as they become available. We are specifically looking for casuals with 8:00am-4:00pm & 4:00pm-12:00am availability for both weekdays and weekends.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide mental health and social supports to youth residing in home
Help cook meals and clean residents with youth
Provide transportation to youth as required
Case planning for youth
Documentation
Medication administration
Respond in a non-violent and compassionate way to youth if they are escalated
Provide support to youth who are using substances and/or have complex mental health and behavior needs
Preferred Skills & Education:
Post-secondary degree in, Social Sciences or equivalent knowledge and experience
Must be able to pass a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sectors check
Must have a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers' License
Up to date First Aid/CPR
Understanding of substance use and its impacts on youth
Understanding of complex behavioural needs and best practice when supporting youth
