Serving the University of Waterloo and the surrounding community, Bright Starts Co-operative Early Learning Centre Inc. is a registered non-profit charitable organization providing high-quality childcare and early learning experiences. We have a licensed operating capacity of 181 children ranging in age from 0 - 6 years. Bright Starts CELC strives to promote a positive, safe, loving, nurturing and home-like atmosphere where our children's health, safety, nutrition and well-being are of the utmost importance. Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years (2014) to guide our programming and pedagogy. Qualifications:
ECE Diploma or Degree as recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators is preferred
Experience working in a licensed childcare centre is preferred
Knowledge and experience with How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years (2014) is preferred
Registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators is preferred
Valid certification in Standard First Aid and CPR-level C (WSIB must approve course provider)
Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screen, valid within six months
Worker Health and Safety in 4 steps certificate
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) customer service training certificate
Specific Responsibilities/Knowledge/Skills Required:
Adhere to the Child Care Early Years Act, 2014, and all Bright Starts CELC policies and procedures.
Implement the approaches as communicated within our Program Statement
Ensure children are adequately supervised at all times
Nurture children's healthy development and well-being by viewing children as competent, capable and rich in potential
Cultivate partnerships with parents where relationships are respectful of structure, culture, values, language and knowledge
Support children's growing sense of self
Create environments and experiences to engage children in active, creative, and meaningful exploration, play, and inquiry
Allow children to actively explore, investigate, take manageable risks, and engage in creative problem-solving
Appreciate that children have unique needs and a variety of learning styles, methods of understanding and constructing knowledge
Engage in constructive relationships with community agencies
Remain current in professional knowledge, skills and values
Ability to work cooperatively with team members to ensure necessary workflow and coverage
Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrate strong collaboration and teamwork skills to deliver a high-quality program effectively
Participate in ongoing assessments of the early learning environments
Contribute to advancing quality through Early Years Engage and environmental initiatives
