Casual Resident Care Worker
Job Description
The Casual Resident Care Worker will assist with and provide, under supervision, basic nursing care for patients which will include care for patients suffering from acute or persistent, enduring mental illness and also patients experiencing severe intellectual disabilities. Rotation to all units in the hospital will be required at times. Performing basic nursing care duties, including physical exercises, taking vitals, temperature, pulse and respiration, blood pressure and oxygen Sat, and processing chem strips, for patients. The RCW will work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Duties will include:
Providing for the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual needs of the mentally ill client; Providing effective communication through charting as well as written and verbal reports; Capable of performing sterile and non-sterile techniques; Providing guidance to non-professional staff; Other related duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent as recognized by the Employer Resident Care Worker certification program or equivalent as recognized by the Employer Good Communication and Judgement Skills Capable of sustained physical activity Additional training in dementia care or palliative care are an asset
Other Qualifications:
Previous / Recent experience in mental health would be an asset. Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.

Salary Range:
