Job Description

Iris Court is a supportive living facility operated by SSA, providing 24/7 staff support to 21 tenants The Housing Support Worker at Iris Court plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for tenants. Reporting to the Housing Manager, this role provides individualized tenant support, assists with day-to-day operations, ensures adherence to health and safety protocols, and fosters positive relationships with tenants and the Iris Court team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Service Delivery:



Adhere to the Mental Health Act, The Child Welfare Act, the Health Information Act, FOIPP, and other relevant legislation

Follow all safety, privacy, and confidentiality protocols

Respond to emergency calls and activate appropriate emergency response protocols

Maintain knowledge of the Supportive Living Accommodation Standards

Complete SPDAT, Provincial Assessment and Care Planning Records as assigned

Tenant Support:



Build respectful, professional relationships with tenants based on empathy and clear boundaries

Coaching and empowering tenants in maintaining suites and life skills building.

Assist tenants with community resources and clinical services

Assist with:

o Medical appointment reminders and in-room support

o Room visits, linen exchange, and facility inspections

o Monitoring computer and phone use as needed

o Addressing tenant complaints (e.g., noise, odors)

o Enforcing bed bug prevention protocols

o Supporting tenant chores, cleaning, and coffee station upkeep

Follow up with action items for the weekly room visits

Maintain accurate logbook entries

Admin:



Complete Shift Updates:

o Read all communications and email

o Document concerns in communication log

o Complete funder required Efforts to Outcome in the database

Housekeeping:



Organize and maintain the cleaning supply room and linen closet

Advise management when cleaning/breakroom supplies need to be reordered

Keep cleaning caddy fully stocked and prepare cloths/mop pads for laundering

Wipe down high touch surfaces (e.g., doorknobs, light switches, handrails)

Sweep and mop common areas - dining room and foyer.

Building Rounds:



Conduct hourly walks around the building and record all findings in the logbook (e.g., tenant sightings, noises, incidents)

Report on concerns or urgent matters directly to the on-call Housing Manager

At the end of each shift, submit a summary email that includes:

o Tasks completed

o Tenant support provided

o Observations or concerns

o Number of ETO entries completed

Physical demands include standing for long periods, walking, and cleaning

Essential Skills and Qualifications:



Diploma or Degree in Related Health field

3 years minimum experience in a similar environment

Experience in working with people living with schizophrenia or other related mental health disorders

Excellent computer and time management skills

Ability to work with minimal supervision and willingness to take initiative to complete job duties and tasks independently.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: From $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 16 per week
