Requirements

Candidates must be able to speak and comprehend English fluently

Must be bondable.

Must have a Food Handling Certificate

A City of Winnipeg Police Service current police record and vulnerable sector check is required prior to hire date.

Emergency First Aid is also mandatory within six months of employment

Candidates must be able to and continue to be available to work on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Complete ability to communicate with co-workers and residents in a professional manner.

A minimum of 3 years food handling/preparation experience

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to established recipes and menus. Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety standards and regulations. Assist in the planning and execution of daily menu items, including specials. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours. Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist in ordering as needed. Participate in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety protocols. Follow proper procedures for food handling, storage, and sanitation.

Qualifications

Previous experience in the food service or restaurant industry is preferred. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling. Strong skills in meal preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment operation. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. A passion for cooking and creating delicious meals that delight guests.
