Job Description

Transdev Canada is hiring Casual Paratransit Operators for our Salmon Arm location.





A Paratransit Operator provides specialized transportation services for passengers with physical disabilities or mobility challenges who are unable to use conventional fixed-route transit


Your Role




Safely operate a smaller accessible vehicle designed for transporting passengers with mobility aids (e.g., wheelchairs, scooters). Follow scheduled routes but remain flexible for door-to-door pickups and drop-offs based on bookings. Stops at designated points to load and/or unload passengers. Maintains a strong attendance record. Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly. Assist passengers in boarding, securing mobility devices, disembarking safely and in challenging weather conditions. Provide courteous, compassionate and personnalized customer service and information about routes and schedules. Follow traffic laws, transit policies, and safety regulations. Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger counts, and incidents. Collect fares or manage fare system validation. Assumes any and all other duties assigned.

Your Profile




You have a valid Class 1, Class 2 or Class 4 Unrestricted license with air brakes endorsement. You have a clear driver abstract and adherence to safety regulations. You possess experience in operating accessible vehicles (e.g., wheelchair lifts, securement systems). You have strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally. You have the ability to assist passengers with disabilities and mobility devices. You possess good knowledge of city streets, traffic patterns and transit policies. You demonstrate strong physical condition and the stamina required to operate a bus for extended periods You are in compliance with background checks, medical fitness assessments, and drug screening. You are reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and willingness to work a variety of shift.

Your Location




This is a casual, unionized position located in Salmon Arm. Shifts are subject to frequent changes based on operational needs.
