Shifts:

Hours will vary as per the schedule; rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 program

Salary:

$30.00/hr for a set amount of stand by on call support hours. $25.00/hr for direct client support time if hours are over and above stand by hours.

After-hours

Casual/On-Call Crisis Responder

will provide trauma- informed victim-centered supportive services, including, but not limited to needs assessments, crisis intervention, and referrals. The position will also assist in supporting volunteers in the delivery of victim services in accordance with the Ministry standards.

The position requires flexibility, dedication, compassion, and energetic individuals. This position provides additional coverage and supports current team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct service support to crisis calls over the phone, through email or on-site.

Respond to email referrals submitted by police and community stakeholders.

Conduct needs assessments and assesses risk and safety to help determine service needs or make appropriate referrals.

Maintain and update the client database system with any contacts or interventions provided.

Provide general reception duties and administrative support within the Agency as needed.

Maintain cooperative working relationships with police services, hospitals, emergency responders, and indigenous partners.

Assist victims with applications to programs, such as the Victim Quick Response + Program.

When needed, the On Call Responder will assist in the supervision and support of volunteers in the delivery of victim services.

Working Conditions

There is frequent noticeable pressure from simultaneous priorities. Unpleasant contacts or concerns over unpleasant situations are frequent.

Moderate disruption of family/social life.

This position exposes the incumbent to vicarious trauma that results from empathetic engagement with recently traumatized clients.

Delivery of services could be independent or with a volunteer crisis responder.

Flexible shifts/hours Monday-Sunday include, but not limited to, statutory holidays with evening, weekend, and on-call shifts related to client and organizational needs for crisis support.

Casual staff must commit to working a minimum of one full weekend a month with additional support as required.

Must keep availability information updated with the Director for unscheduled shifts.

Requirements

Must be 18+ years of age

Possess a valid G driver's license with a clear drivers abstract and valid minimum of 1 million in insurance

Complete and maintain a clear vulnerable sector check.
