Job Description

The Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation (MCCC), Manitoba's second Crown Corporation, plays a vital role in supporting arts and culture across Winnipeg and the province. MCCC achieves this by providing facilities and facility management for several prominent venues, including the Manitoba Museum and Planetarium & Science Gallery, the Centennial Concert Hall, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, the Tom Hendry (Warehouse) Theatre, Artspace, the Manitoba Production Centre, and four parking facilities.



MCCC directly manages both the Centennial Concert Hall, home to its resident companies the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Manitoba Opera, and Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the Manitoba Production Centre, a purpose-built studio supporting Manitoba's growing film and television industry. The Centennial Concert Hall also hosts a wide variety of events, including performances by local talent, international artists, dance companies, and touring Broadway productions.



The Opportunity

Reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities Services, the Maintenance Helper performs cleaning, general maintenance, and facility upkeep to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for occupants and visitors. This role involves assisting with minor repairs, handling equipment and supplies, and supporting tradespersons as needed. Some tasks require independent execution, while others are performed under supervision. Weekend and shift work required.



Key Responsibilities

Perform routine cleaning and general maintenance of buildings and grounds. Assist engineers with cleaning and upkeep of mechanical and electrical rooms. Operate equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, floor polishers, scrubbers, lawn mowers, blowers, trimmers, snow blowers, and pressure washers. Support groundskeeping duties, including landscaping and snow removal. Obtain and move parts, tools, and equipment for tradespersons. Assist with basic repair tasks and ensure work areas remain clean and organized. Load and unload trucks, transport materials, and move furniture, supplies, and heavy equipment as required. Safely operate power tools, when required. Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and necessary repairs to the supervisor. Maintain accurate records of completed tasks and inspections. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies

Experience in building cleaning and maintenance. Knowledge of maintenance and cleaning supplies and their proper use. Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently. Skill in operating basic tools and equipment safely. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Physical capability to perform duties, including lifting and moving heavy objects. Work involves exposure to varying temperatures, outdoor conditions, and physical labour. Requires lifting, bending, carrying, and extended periods of standing or walking. Work may include evenings, weekends, and shift assignments as needed.
