Casual Food Service Worker

to support our mission of producing nutritious meals which have positive impacts on the health, wellbeing, and independence of Edmontonians.

POSITION SUMMARY



As a

Casual Food Service Worker

, you will be working in an active team environment, supporting meal production, filling in for staff vacancies, washing dishes, and receiving and storing goods as necessary. Our kitchen staff work alongside a group of diverse volunteers, all members of the kitchen team must support each other and work within outlined policies to ensure the best meal quality and service for our clientele.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Primary duty is production of large-scale recipes for the frozen meals program. Support dessert, sandwich, and salad preparation, as well as other food item packaging/assembling as required. Display and adhere to safe food handling practices, cleanliness, and hygiene. Demonstrate excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Delegate and monitor tasks for volunteers, with the support of the kitchen supervisors. Rotate and date purchased goods as requested. Assist with responsibilities of ware washer as required. Assist with order picking, labelling, and checking frozen orders as required. Support cleaning the kitchen and receiving area. Other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



2-years related experience. Experience in high volume kitchens/catering is preferred. Food Safe Certification preferred. Clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check. Standard First Aid certification preferred. Organized, punctual, and reliable. Positive, flexible, and outgoing team player with a 'can-do' attitude.

WORK ENVIRONMENT



Fast paced commercial kitchen requiring attention to safety policies & procedures, and adherence to set timelines as well as flexibility to required changes. Working with volunteers from diverse backgrounds, supporting daily kitchen activities. Ability to manage and share space as set by the Food Production Manager during shift overlap periods.

SALARY AND BENEFITS



$16.00 - 18.50

per hour based on candidate skills & experience. Hours will be set with the Food Production Manager based on need. Expect 12-20 hours per week.

Must be available for shifts between 5:45am and 6:30pm (Mon-Fri).
