The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association is looking for a dynamic, and energetic individual to work as caretaker on a casual, as needed basis for facility cleaning, general maintenance of the building, set up for events related duties. This will include but not limited to everyday cleaning, special cleanup projects as needed to maintain the property, teardown and cleanup after rentals and events as needed, pulling down and putting back up of the removable wall between the ballrooms, onsite support during events, ensuring the security of the premises (locking doors).
This is a
casual employment contract
, and the Employee's services will be required on an intermittent, on call basis depending on SAEA's. The work hours will be between 12-20 h per week with no guarantee of a certain number of hours, and work will be scheduled based on the requirements of organisation.
Hourly Rates of Pay
The Employee will be compensated at a rate of
$17.00 per hour
under this Agreement.
Working Hours
The Employee will be scheduled as required based on event needs. Hours may vary, and shifts may include evening and weekend work. Specific hours for each event will be communicated in advance, and the Employee may choose to accept or decline each assignment.

This role is physically demanding and can often involve long hours of standing, walking, lifting and moving equipment. Some roles may require heavy lifting or setting up and tearing down event spaces. Physical stamina and resilience can be important qualities for this casual role.
Our ideal candidate is an someone who is willing to work flexible hours including weekends, has previous experience cleaning and maintaining commercial facilities, able to work as part of a team, handle multiple tasks, and interact with diverse groups of people.
Duties Include:
The Employee agrees to perform the following duties as assigned by SAEA:
Facility cleaning and general maintenance of the premises:
Everyday routine cleaning, vacuuming, and maintaining of the facility and washrooms in a clean state. Performing special cleaning tasks and projects on a routine basis as identified. Ensuring all event facilities are clean and well-maintained and assisting with facility maintenance and cleaning tasks to keep standards high at all times outside of regular business hours. Knowledge in the use of small cleaning equipment
Event set up:
Assisting with the setup of event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, decorations, and equipment as specified.
Event Cleanup:
Ensuring the event space is cleaned and restored to its original condition after events, including removing decorations, cleaning surfaces, and properly storing equipment.
Locking Doors and Client Departure:
Ensuring that all guests have exited the premises at the conclusion of the event, securing doors, and confirming the facility is secure.
Work in a team setting:
Collaborate with team members to ensure the facility is upto date
Maintain confidentiality
at all times and act with courtesy, integrity and responsibility
Handling event
emergencies
and issues promptly
Securing the facility
once event is completed
Snow shoveling and maintaining outdoor spaces.
Assisting with any other duties
for office and facility management as per organizational needs.

What You Bring
Previous 1-2 years of work experience in maintaining and cleaning of commercial spaces including use of auto-scrubber, heavy duty vacuum cleaners, and other professional cleaning equipment's.
Requirements
Flexible for week day evening, weekend and on call shifts as needed

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
