What to Expect in this Role:



Specifically looking for someone with Overnight Availability, this frontline position will be eligible and expected to work at multiple locations with various teams of practitioners in our Group Home or Community Access settings to support clients through the night.

While shift days and locations will vary - the expectation will be that you will support the individuals assigned to you for the duration of the shift. Regardless, you will be provided with all the same trainings as regular staff, along with all the same information and directions for the individuals you will be supporting.

Our Group Living Department has 11 different locations across the city, and, when working in our Community Access Location, you could be supporting individuals at our main facilities in the N.E., in the individuals' homes, or in the community, doing various activities.

The diagnoses and limitations of the individuals you support will vary, but could include anything from autism, cerebral palsy, and dementia, to schizophrenia, OCD, and mobility issues.

With a passion for helping others, you will be asked to support individuals based on their individualized plans. Daily responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

Providing medical, environmental, emotional, physical, and behavioural support. Engaging with individuals in their daily routines and activities, such as swimming, volunteering, being around animals/pets, etc. Driving to meet with, or driving individuals to any scheduled activities or medical appointments. Learning and following Individualized Behavioural Support Plans to better understand client needs. Completing necessary Client Documentation, such as behaviour tracking, log notes, and incident reporting. Assisting clients in daily tasks, such as household maintenance, grocery shopping, and meal preparation.

Flexible Schedule:



The ideal candidate would be wanting to take 4 to 5 shifts a week, between the hours of 11 pm to 7 am. The rate of pay for this role is $21.19/hour, and is subject to an additional $0.25 - $0.50 per hour for awake overnight shifts, according to our shift differential. Shifts could be available at 1 of our 11 Group Home locations, as well as our main facility location; there may also be shifts at other additional locations, as required. It is an expectation that casual staff are able and willing to drive throughout the city, so that they can work at any location that may need further support. Should you need to drive a client for a shift, mileage will be reimbursed at $0.50/km

You have a person-centered approach and will take the time to ask questions to better learn how to provide what is needed in every unique situation.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum of a completed 1-year Canadian Certificate/Diploma in the Human Services Sector (equivalencies will be considered). Intermediate computer skills. Valid class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance by time of hire. Familiar with Schizophrenia, OCD, and ASD. Confident supporting clients with highly challenging behaviour, such as addictions. Comfortable driving and working across multiple locations throughout the city.

Preferred Requirements

1-year of relevant experience in the Human Services Field, specifically supporting individuals with disabilities, is an asset Morning and Evening availability for weekends, and some/all week days Flexibility in schedule start and end times * Any of the following certifications: First Aid/CPR, Positive Behaviour Supports, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol, Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, and/or other relevant trainings.
