Newcomer Women Services Toronto - Integrated Employment Services is facilitating the recruitment process on behalf of one of our employment partners for this position. As part of the selection process, all shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a virtual pre-screening interview and an in-person interview with the hiring team of the partnering organization.

Job Summary


We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our employment partner's retail team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, handle transactions accurately, and contribute to a positive shopping experience for each customer.

Responsibilities



Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases Operate POS systems accurately to process cash, credit, and digital payments Handle cash handling duties with precision and integrity Upsell items to maximize sales opportunities Maintain organized merchandising displays and ensure product availability Offer excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure smooth checkout processes Uphold good etiquette when assisting customers via phone or online inquiries Communicate openly with managers and teammates, follow directions, and contribute to a positive work environment. Ensure the checkout area remains clean, organized, and welcoming Follow food safety guidelines, maintain product freshness, and keep the front counter/restaurant clean and organized.

Requirements



At least 1 year of previous experience in retail sales, cashiering, or customer service preferred Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer satisfaction Must have flexible availability

Must have a valid Food Handlers Certificate

Pay: From $17.60 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
