Position Summary
As the
Cash Lead
at our
Rosedale location
, you'll oversee the daily operations of our Front-End (cashier) team. Your focus will be on ensuring exceptional customer experiences, maintaining efficient workflows, and coaching your team to deliver service that reflects the heart of Summerhill Market. This role is ideal for a passionate, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day Front-End operations, including cash handling, customer service, staff scheduling, and issue resolution
Foster a customer-first culture by coaching staff on engagement, upselling, and product knowledge
Merchandise impulse and seasonal displays at the Front-End to maximize sales
Handle product damages and credits in accordance with policy
Serve as the first point of contact for escalated customer concerns
Conduct regular meetings with upper management to report on staffing, customer feedback, and department performance
Lead hiring, onboarding, and training efforts for new Front-End staff
Support planning and execution of in-store demos and promotional events
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Standards under the Ontario Health and Safety Act
Work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Cashiering Responsibilities
Accurately process sales using POS systems, handle returns, credits, and price discrepancies
Maintain a clean and organized workstation
Provide prompt and courteous customer interactions
Support store merchandising, displays, and cleanliness
Collaborate with colleagues across departments to maintain store excellence
Adhere to store policies including loss prevention and signage accuracy
Qualifications & Skills
A passion for food and a genuine love for customer service
Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
2+ years of retail supervisory experience (grocery preferred)
Hands-on experience with cash management and POS systems
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
Food Handler Certification is an asset
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a physically active environment
