About the program:
Arches Supportive Employment Services works with individuals who experience barriers such as mental health, substance use, or justice involvement and helps them find and maintain meaningful employment opportunities. Arches recognizes that individuals may be in different places in their employment journey and tailors its approaches accordingly. This can include education and career exploration, mentorship, goal setting, access to employment training, job search and application, writing resumes and cover letters, interview preparation, advocacy for the jobseeker to employers, on-the-job support, accommodations and disclosures, and assistance with upward career mobility.
Arches also provides workshops at our partner sites, including the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services, and the Salvation Army. These workshops focus on preparing individuals for work and helping them maintain employment, with a recognition of the challenges that come with lived experience of mental health or substance use issues.

About the role:
Provide a range of direct individualized services to clients, including intake, needs assessment, mental health support, job search and on-the-job support
Assist clients with career exploration, resume preparation, job search strategies, interview skills, coaching, and mentoring
Connect with prospective employers (for information, referral, job leads and placement) in order to facilitate employment opportunities for clients
Connect with existing and prospective community partners to facilitate pre-employment training, etc.
Facilitate workshops related to the employment needs of clients and other needs
Facilitate and organize information sessions for clients and community partners
Explore new resources in response to emerging client needs
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources in order to make appropriate referrals to services as well as an understanding of labour market realities to assist with job search and career development
Administrative duties to include recording intakes and client progress, data entry, writing customized resumes and cover letters and assist with report writing
Assist with other roles within the organization as required

Qualifications & Experience
Education: University Degree/College Diploma in the Social Sciences or related field.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
Experience in Employment Services.
Experience working with marginalized clients who face many barriers.
Experience working with a large case load of clients effectively
Experience facilitating engaging workshops and group discussion
Experience in Social Services.
Strong computer proficiency (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and database management)
