Caseworker (full Time)

Job Description

The Caseworker will be responsible for matching volunteer mentors with children and youth, and to monitor those matches to ensure the healthy development of the relationships. The successful applicant will provide casework management in accordance with the National Standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

The caseworker will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the Agency and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

accept and document application of potential volunteers and clients (including parent, guardian, child, youth, etc.) manage intake of children and volunteers including orientation, interviewing, screening etc. inform families of the reasons for the denial of service or for the closing of an application or referral contact schools or other involved social service agencies as appropriate for assessment input conduct the Child Safety training program with volunteers, children and parents maintain case notes on all cases in accordance with the National Standards facilitate match closure process for volunteer, child and parent, including exit interview for volunteer provide regular reports to Executive Director, or special reports as requested maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency Privacy and Confidentiality Policy ensure all clients and volunteers are informed of any pertinent agency information such as group programs, change of policy, change of address etc. perform administrative functions as required to manage caseload make referrals to other agencies as warranted participate on committees as required liaise with schools, other youth service agencies, other community groups, clubs or the public in general as required assist with recreation events as required complete regular (min. yearly) performance appraisal including goals and objectives throughout the year assist with the training and management of university and college placement students remain aware of federal and provincial privacy legislation and the agency's privacy policies and practices all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications



In accordance with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada's National Child Safety Standards, all Mentoring Coordinators must have a two year post-secondary diploma in a related field (eg. education, social or human services, child and youth work, family studies etc.).

We are seeking an experienced candidate for this role, ideally with 2-3 years of social work experience and 2-3 years of experience working with youth.



In addition to this, the agency may require the applicant to have:

effective oral and written communication skills strong problem solving skills ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds ability to work independently and as part of a team sound computer skills ability to work flexible hours a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is required ability to oversee and assist placement student
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 35 per week
