: Oshki-Giizhig is an Indigenous-based non-profit organization. Our vision is a healthy community built on Indigenous journeys towards wellness. Its mission is to will walk beside, advocate and support people affected by FASD and or other disorders.
Strengthened by cultural practices and traditional teachings, support will assist in restoring balance to individuals and the community affected by trauma and violence.
Support Programs serve individuals who live in Winnipeg, are 16 years of age or older, living with FASD and/or other disorders. Oshki-Giizhig is committed to supporting the development of strong and healthy communities. Qualifications
: Post-secondaryschool in social work, social justice, Indigenous studies, health related and/or a combination of pertinent experiences in these areas. Experiences with cultural activities and understanding of Indigenous concepts of care and support. Knowledge of disabilities, disorders and mental health issues.
Driver's license and access to transportation.
Responsibilities:
The Caseworker provides some direct service in order to address participant needs, other than day-to-day. Ensures that participant needs are identified, and the support plans are met. Provides support and training to Mentors. Communicates consistently with whole team and relays information between Case Managers and Mentors. Duties as assigned by the Case Manager to ensure that program activities are meet by the needs of participants. Assist in coordinating supports in the community. Additionally, this role will involve engaging with our community by providing transportation services for participants. This includes driving individuals to and from various locations as needed to support their participation in our programs or services.
