The Case Worker is responsible for providing holistic, client-centered support to individuals and families facing social, economic, and personal challenges. Working within the values and mission of the AMRC. The Case Worker helps clients access resources, develop action plans, and navigate systems while fostering dignity, empowerment, and spiritual sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Support & Case Management
Conduct intake assessments to identify client needs, strengths, and goals.
Develop individualized support or intervention plans in collaboration with clients.
Provide referrals and assist clients in accessing services such as housing, financial aid, legal support, healthcare, employment, and mental health care.
Offer culturally and spiritually sensitive counseling or guidance within professional limits.
Maintain regular follow-up with clients to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
2. Community and Faith-Based Resource Navigation
Build relationships with faith-based and secular community partners and service providers.
Connect clients with religious or spiritual support services (e.g., imam) as appropriate.
Assist in organizing or referring clients to support groups, workshops, and wellness programs.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and confidential case notes, assessments, and service logs.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for funders, program directors, or board reviews.
Ensure all records comply with privacy laws, ethical standards, and organizational policies.
4. Advocacy and Empowerment
Advocate for clients with external agencies (e.g., housing authorities, schools, employers).
Educate clients on their rights and how to navigate systems such as immigration, education, or healthcare.
Promote self-sufficiency, empowerment, and inclusion, especially for marginalized individuals.
5. Teamwork & Program Development
Participate in team meetings, training, and interagency collaborations.
Contribute to the development of new programming or service initiatives.
Uphold the organization's mission and values in all interactions.
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or related field.
2+ years of case management or direct client service experience preferred.
Knowledge of challenges affecting marginalized and faith-based communities (e.g., Islamophobia, immigration issues, poverty, family dynamics).
Familiarity with local and regional community resources and service systems.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with people from diverse cultural, faith, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Language proficiency
in [e.g., Arabic, Urdu, Somali, etc.] is an asset.
Must maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and faith-based ethical standards.
Additional Information
Must be willing to work occasional evenings or weekends for events or client needs.
A valid driver's license and access to transportation may be required.
