This position is ideal for someone who wants professional experience in a highly supportive work environment. The commitment is Full Time- 35hrs/week, Monday to Friday. Flexible start/end times, minimum of two later shifts/week (typically finishing up by 7pm).

The primary function of the Caseworker is to provide casework management and support to the Mentoring Programs in accordance with the National Standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. They will be responsible for Group Based Mentoring Programs including Go Girls, Game On, Teen Mentoring, and Big Bunch. Caseworker will also assist the Program Manager in matching volunteer mentors with children and youth, and to monitor those matches to ensure the healthy development of the relationships. The Caseworker will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the Agency and be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



Assist with the intake of children and volunteers including orientation, interviewing, screening etc. Assess and document applications of potential volunteers and families (including caregiver and children/youth, etc.) Connect with schools or other involved social service agencies as appropriate for assessment input. Conduct the Pre-Match Training Program and other required trainings with mentors, mentees and caregivers. Maintain case notes in accordance with the national standards. Facilitate match closure process for mentor, mentee, and caregiver. Perform administrative functions as required to manage caseload. Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency privacy and confidentiality policy. Remain aware of federal and provincial privacy legislation and the agency's privacy policies and practices. Ensure awareness of and all work is done in compliance with BBBSC National Standards. Participate in orientation, service delivery and pre-match training administered by the agency. Onboard, nurture, support, and navigate Group Programs and relationships with a focus on positive experience and child safety. Organize and facilitate group mentoring sessions/workshops Attend volunteer recruitment events. Assist with recreation/fundraising events as required. Perform other duties and responsibilities from time to time, as the situation requires, and as assigned. Work closely and Collaboratively with Program Manager. Provide regular reports, or special reports as requested. Ensure all mentees, caregivers, and mentors are informed of any pertinent agency information.

Qualifications & Skills



.Minimum 2 year post secondary diploma in a related field (education, social or human services, child and youth worker, family studies etc.) In accordance with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada National Child Safety Standards.

Previous experience in a mentoring or coaching role is preferred.

Strong Administrative Skills, including record keeping and data collection.

Attention to detail with a dedication to child safety.

Excellent leadership and communication skills, including public speaking abilities.

Ability to build strong, professional and personal relationships based on trust, support and diversity.

Creative out of the box thinker with an ability to work within proven systems while always being committed to learning.

Demonstrated organizational skills as seen through time management, scheduling, document management, work planning.

Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

Reliable computer skills including Microsoft Office and database use. Open to learning new skills to better use available technologies and software.

Satisfactory Criminal Reference check including Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Lifelong learner who enjoys regular self reflection, team building, and professional development both within role requirements and personal goals.
