The Brenda Strafford Foundation (BSF) is a charitable organization that currently owns and operates five Long Term Care and Assisted Living seniors care communities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB. We take pride in providing a safe, caring, and comfortable home environment that caters to the complex needs of our senior residents and families.The Brenda Strafford Foundation - Heart Home Network ("HHN") serves women and children impacted by family violence through providing a safe shelter and housing complimented by comprehensive support service for all participants. HHN offers a continuum of care designed to help families develop their potential and transition to safe and healthy lives in the community upon their departure from HHN.

The Role:

Community Support:
Create an inclusive, safe environment for participants and colleagues.
Address intersectional barriers to provide holistic support.
Engage with participants using a trauma-informed, strength-based approach.
Build trust and maintain open communication with vulnerable individuals.
Uphold human rights and promote diversity and inclusion.
Stay informed on local resources, referral processes, and eligibility.
Additional Skills and Knowledge:
Focus on capacity building for individuals and families.
Knowledge of child protection and parent/child visitation processes.
Familiarity with mental health systems, referrals, and resources.
Intake and Case Management:
Conduct participant intake, assessments, and gather necessary documentation.
Manage a caseload of up to 20 participants, providing guidance and support.
Offer ongoing assessments, referrals, and advocacy for community resources.
Track progress, adjust goals, and maintain accurate case files.
Co-create discharge and community support plans with participants and teams.
Build relationships with local organizations and social housing agencies.
Provide transportation to reduce access barriers.
Program Activities:
Assist in developing and implementing program activities.
Collaborate with participants to create personalized support plans.
Actively support wellness goals through ongoing plan participation.
Incorporate feedback to improve programs and services.
Identify service gaps and advocate for participant needs.
Support participants' journey toward wellness and safety.

Who We're Looking For:
--------------------------
Degree in Community Development, Social Work, Psychology, Child and Youth Care Work, Behavioural Science, or related social sciences
Registered with appropriate provincial organization as per degree is an asset
One (1) to three (3) years' experience working in the field of mental health, addiction, and working with marginalized populations
Non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) and short-term crisis intervention certification is required
Knowledge of outcome measures and reporting requirements is considered an asset
Effective written and oral communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Demonstrated skills in contingency ("walking the talk"), critical thinking, and reflexivity
Ability to work from an intersectional approach to reduce barriers for families who are experiencing high levels of crisis
Excellent interpersonal skills
Extensive knowledge of local and regional community resources, programs, and services for individuals and families, is an asset
Schedule flexibility to meet participant needs
Valid driver's license of six (6) years with clean drivers abstract of three (3) years
Required to pass police security clearance and child intervention check
Fluency in a second language is an asset
