Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose - the essence of SFU - is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

The Human Rights Office (HRO) oversees the administration of SFU's Human Rights Policy (GP18) and Bullying and Harassment Policy (GP47), and provides community-wide education of addressing and preventing discrimination, bullying and harassment. The HRO offers consultations to all members of the SFU community seeking advice and information on their human rights.

The Ombudsperson at SFU is an independent, impartial and confidential resource for students, providing information and guidance on rights and responsibilities, and University regulations, policies and procedures. The Ombudsperson is an advocate for fairness in general for the benefit of all students and the university community as a whole.

About the Role

As an integral part of the Human Rights Office (including the Bullying & Harassment Central Hub), and the Office of the Ombudsperson, the Case Manager is responsible for addressing the needs of SFU community members (students, faculty and staff) affected by discrimination, bullying, harassment, and other concerns related to procedural fairness. The Case Manager conducts individual consultations with SFU community members, provides trauma-informed support, evaluates the services required to meet the person's needs, and helps individuals understand SFU's policy and collective agreement frameworks, as well as relevant legislation, to support informed decisions about reports and complaints to the University. In addition, the Case Manager acts as a facilitator and coordinator, collaborating with University offices, departments, units, and individuals to ensure community members receive appropriate and coordinated support.
